A collection of design and fabrication work I did on my senior thesis, Detektive Thumb and The Infinity House. My roles on the film included: Art Director, designer, story board artist, Lead set and prop fabricator and set dresser.

THE SETS

MAZE ROOM
The Maze Room was the first set I designed and built for the project. It was designed to be symmetrical, and had 7 seperate interlocking pieces. This fit a theme of the film, while also being functional for our tight deadline. Up to three shots could go off at a time in different setups.

BIG HAND ROOM
The Big Hand Room was designed to allow for a pixilated hand along with our 12 inch puppet

THE DOOR HALL
The Door Hall was the first big illusion set I designed for Thumb. The design was pretty popular in
90s music videos and I wanted to figure out how it works! During the mock up phase I found that the distance between the walls related to the size of the doors. This was set wound up being the longest set of the film measuring in at just over six feet. It was also one of the only sets built during quar

THE MIRROR ROOM
The mirror room was inspired by the funhouse scene in Orson Welles' The Lady From Shanghai.
The effect was achieved with two separate walls of regular mirror and one two way mirror that the camera would go behind under a blackout curtain.

THE PROPS

The Note Prop was an animatable folded paper prop. I used three replacement models made from paper and cinquefoil to keep it's shape, twisted 24 gauge was used to rig the prop off the hands.

The cigarette prop was an an LED light connected to a dimmer. Paper was wrapped around the LED. Cigarette paint job done by Katie Lathrop

Materials used: MDF, Foil, Paper.
